Meghalaya govt mulls measures to curb crimes against women
Shillong, Sep 26 (UNI) The Meghalaya Government has mulled setting up fast track courts with a woman judge, along with forming crime cells under a female police officer, in the district headquarters in the state.
A high-level meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Donkupar Roy, was held yesterday, in the presence of Director General of State Police, to discuss on the measures to fight atrocities against women.
It was also decided to fill the vacant posts in forensic department through the appointment of experts and strengthen the system of prosecution.
Meanwhile, the Meghalaya Humanity Service Organisation has demanded stringent measures against the culprits involved in the murder of two women near here on September 13.
