US embassy suspends visa service in Pakistan
Islamabad, Sep 25 (UNI) The US embassy in Paksitan today suspended its visa service for an indefinite period.
The embassy spokesperson confirmed visa service has been suspended for an indefinite period.
The new development came two days after the British Airways, which operates six weekly flights from Islamabad, cancelled its operations for an indefinite period citing security reasons.
The BA suspended the operation following a massive car bombing at the Marriott hotel in Islamabad on Saturday, which killed 60 people and wounded 260 others.
''Only those applicants who were called for interviews today would be entertained, and this service will not be available tomorrow onwards,'' local English daily The News quoted the spokesperson as saying.
It has also been learnt that the US government has issued a fresh advisory for its citizens to remain watchful in Pakistan and directed them not to travel and stay unnecessarily in the country.
