Madhesis wants to be consulted before 1950 Treaty review with India
Kathmandu, Sept 24 : The Terai-Madhesh Democratic Party (TMDP) President Mahanta Thakur today said that the Madheshi people must be consulted before taking any decision regarding the 1950 Treaty with India.
Speaking at a press meet here, Thakur said, "It must be made sure whether the Madhesis are satisfied with the move intended."
Stating that Prime Minister Prachanda had discussed with the TMDP about the review of the Treaty before leaving for India, Thakur said that it was not assuring enough.
Thakur spointed out that past agreements reached with the Madheshi parties have not been implemented yet.
He also said that they were still struggling for the fulfillment of the Madheshi demands and would continue their struggle depending on the political situation of the country, Kantipur reported.
