Container movement at Cochin Port comes to standstill
Kochi, Sep 24 (UNI) Movement of containers to and from Conchin Port has again ground to a standstill following a strike by container trailer workers since Monday night.
According to Port sources, nearly 300 export containers are stuck outside the container terminal following the flash strike by workers to protest against the alleged ''manhandling'' of their colleagues by CISF personnel posted at the terminal on Monday night.
Just last month, container lorry drivers and crew had gone on a strike over the issue of long waiting period for offloading at the terminal.
The district labour commissioner has called a meeting today to resolve the dispute with the workers stating that they would continue the stir till action is taken against the CISF personnel.
