Marriott management denies reports of "Prez, PM Iftar party" at hotel on Saturday
Islamabad, Sept 23 : Refuting the media reports quoting Pakistan Prime Minister's Adviser on Interior Affairs Rehman Malik that senior Pakistani leaders, including the President, the Prime Minister and others, were to attend an Iftar party on Saturday at Hotel Marriott where the devastating blast took place killing 60 persons, the management of the hotel said there was "no such party".
Rehman Malik had said that the Iftar party was originally organized at the hotel, but it was changed at the 'last minute".
"There was no reservation from the government side," the Daily Times quoted Jamil Khawar, spokesman for hotel owner Sadruddin Hashwani, as saying.
He added: "I have checked from the management and the hotel administration, no booking had been made for an official dinner on that day."
