6 dead, 7 injured in Bengal accidents
Krishnagar, Sep 23 (UNI) At least six people, including three boys, were killed and seven others seriously injured in two separate accidents in Bengal today.
A passenger bus rammed into a car, ferrying six boys from Krishnagan KG School, killing four occupants, three boys aged between seven and nine and the driver, police said.
The head-on collision occurred at Thakurtala near Nabadwip in Nadia district. The bus was en route from Asansol to Krishnagar, while the car was travelling towards Nabadwip, when the accident took place. While two died on the spot, others succumbed in a local hospital.
Irked over the incident, a mob of locals torched a bus.
In another accident, two persons were killed and five others grievously injured after being hit by a truck on GT road near Belting bazar in Hoogly district.
Srerampore SDPO Ajay Thakur said the accident happened when the truck driver lost control over the wheels.
The injured were rushed to the Srerampore Walls hospital in a critical condition.
