Two held for attempt to sell fake gold bricks
Chandigarh, Sep 22 (UNI) The Haryana police has arrested two persons in Faridabad district for trying to dupe a person by selling fake gold bricks.
A police spokesman today said two brothers Visabhai Patel and Prakash Patel, residents of Pattan in Gujrat, had come to Faridabad for some work. They met two persons on the Batta Chowk where the accused showed them a gold brick.
Claiming that the bricks were made of pure gold, a deal was struck between them for Rs ten lakh. An advance payment of Rs 10,000 was made by the Patel brothers to the accused and a piece of the gold brick was taken from the accused to see its purity.
When the complainants took the gold piece to the goldsmith, it was found to be fake.
The spokesman said the police on the complaint of Patel brothers registered a case against Niyamak and Papu, both residents of Jangwali in Uttar Predesh, under sections 420 and 406 of the Indian Penal Code. Both the accused were arrested.
