Punjab cheaters arrested in Samba

Jammu, Sep 22 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested three Punjab based cheaters for selling bags of fake cement at cheap rates in Samba district, police sources here today said.

Acting on a complaint regarding three people cheating the locals in Samba district, assuring them to supply cheap cement, police party yesterday conducted a raid and arrested them red-handed.

''The cheaters were arrested while they were setting up a deal with the owner of an under-construction house and assuring him the supply of the bags of cement,'' the sources told UNI.

The arrested persons have been identified as Bhola Singh, Sukhwinder Singh and Amandeep Singh, all residents of Faridkot, Punjab.

''The modus operandi of the accused was to take advance money from the people on the pretext of providing them cheap cement but they however, used to escape after collecting the amount,'' police sources said and added that they had already cheated some people in Kathua and Samba districts.

Meanwhile police has registered a case against them and investigations were in progress.
