ITBP rescues 37 member trekking team
Dehra Dun, Sep 22 (UNI) As many as 37 trekkers, including foreigners, were rescued and five bodies trapped in heavy snow pulled out by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) from the Kalandani Khal in Uttarakhand.
According to DMMC officials, the ITBP pulled out five bodies from 4-5 ft of snow yesterday and said all other members of the trekking team were safe.
The 37-member trekking team was led by Padmashree Dr Shekhar Pathak and included seven Austrians.
The team had contacted the ACS through a satellite phone after losing direction on the Kalindi-Badrinath trek in Garhwal Himalayas.
