Ex DRDO scientist bags Vasvik Award

Bangalore, Sep 22 (UNI) Dr M D Raj Narayan, founder and former Director of Microwave Tube Research and Development Centre (MTRDC), a DRDO unit here, has been awarded the Vasvik Award.

According to a DRDO release, the award was conferred on Dr Narayan for his work in Electrical and Electronic Sciences and Technology for development of radar and electronic warfare technologies.

MTRDC was established in 1984 as a major centre for design and development of various types of microwave tubes, the release said.

The main objective of the Centre is to establish itself as a strong Research and Development centre with technical competence for development of advanced microwave tubes to meet the present and futuristic needs of the country and establish self-sufficiency in this strategic area, the release added.
