Rain recedes, deluge situation under control in Nashik
Nashik, Sep 19 (UNI) Deluge subdued to some extent in the city and district as rains almost stopped in many parts for the last 7 to 8 hours today.
Rains in various parts decreased and as a result, water which had entered the city and flooded many areas in the district receded somewhat.
At least five people were feared drowned in the district and almost 50 people have been rescued including a three-member family near Shraddha Lawns in Panchavati area of the city.
A dead body was found near Nasardi Bridge on the Nashik-Pune highway. Incidents of house and wall collapse were also reported from many areas.
Water affected many villages in Niphad and Igatpuri talukas.
As many as 600-700 people in Chandori, Saikheda villages were shifted to safer places. Sinnar taluka of the district was also affected due to the rains as the Ghoti-Shirdi road was also closed for traffic.
Some vehicles were also washed away in the floods. Though the exact loss is not known yet, it is feared that goods worth lakhs of Rupees have been destroyed.
District Collector S Chokkalingam and MLA Dr Shobha Bachhav visited the flood-affected areas late this evening.
The city received 83 mm rain till 1800 hrs today.
