New Delhi, Sep 20 (UNI) Megastar Amitabh Bachchan and leading environmentalist R K Pachauri will join a host of celebrities from across the world, including the US, at a live event on December 7 to offer personal and policy solutions to the climate crisis in India.
Mr Bachchan and Dr Pachauri will join former US Vice-President Al Gore, Jon Bon Jovi, and Kevin Wall in 'Live Earth India', a concert for a climate in crisis that will feature world-renowned musicians and performers, environmental advocates and celebrities from India, the US and all over the globe.
'Live Earth India', to be held in Mumbai on December 7, will feature personal and policy solutions to the climate crisis, offer support for India's most important environmental issues and causes, and provide a platform to India to continue its global climate leadership.
Mr Al Gore, who, along with Dr Pachauri and Mr Bachchan, participated in the press announcement live via satellite last night, said India should lead the world by committing to produce all of its new energy in the electricity sector from clean and renewable sources within the next ten years.
Beneficiaries of Live Earth India include TERI's 'Light A Billion Lives' campaign and 'Climate Project India', which are dedicated to promoting awareness and finding solutions to current climate situations while alleviating poverty.
Along with Mr Gore, Dr Pachauri and 'Live Earth India' spokesperson Amitabh Bachchan, lead singer of 'Live Earth India' western headliner Jon Bon Jovi also joined Executive Producer and Live Earth founder Kevin Wall for last night's important announcement.
