Surat traders demand no searches during festival season
Surat, Sep 19 (UNI) Textile traders here today demanded that Income Tax raids should be avoided during the festival season.
Traders of two textile markets today took out a rally and met Additional Income Tax Commissioner, Rajeev Lal. They submitted a memorandum demanding that the survey procedure should be transparent and conducted in the presence of representatives of the Market association.
Earlier, members of R K D Textile Market and the N P M Market went on a flash strike alleging the income tax officials during a survey had tried to strike a 'compromise' and pressurised some traders to admit unaccounted money.
R K D Textile Market Association President Jailal Lalvani said Mr Lal, after listening to them, promised to look into the matter.
