Snowfall in higher reaches of tribal districts, rains lash HP

Shimla, Sep 19 (UNI) Temperature dipped in this hill state today as higher reaches of tribal districts of Lahaul Spiti, Kinnaur, Chamba and Kangra received snowfall while the lower parts were lashed by rains.

High peaks of Kinnuar, Dhauladhar ranges of Kangra districts, Pangi and Bharmour of Chamba district experienced snowfall, lower parts of the district were lashed by showers and high velocity winds.

Rohtang Pass, the gateway of Lahaul Spiti received snowfall and Kullu and Manali experienced rains accompanied by sharp cold winds since last night, which brought down the temperature in the region.

The inclement weather also disrupted traffic, power and drinking water supply in the district.

Shimla and its surrounding areas, including famous tourist resorts of Kufri, Wild Flowerhall, Narkanda and Naldhera also witnessed rain and cold winds in the last 24 hours.

Power supply, telecommunication and drinking water supply were affected due to continued rainfall. Many local link roads were water-logged or damaged affecting traffic and accessibilty in the rural areas.

Reports of rain were also received from Solan, Mandi, Bilaspur, Dharamshala, Una, Nahan and Palampur.
