Sindhudurg to be declared as eco-sensitive zone

Mumbai, Sep 16 (UNI) Sindhudurg district, known for its natural beauty, has been declared as a tourist district and will soon be declared as an eco-sensitive zone, Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh said.

Chief Minister was speaking to a delegation of MLAs from Konkan, led by MP Suresh Prabhu, who met him in Mantralaya yesterday to discuss various problems of people. The delegation included MLAs Shivram Dalvi, Dr Deepak Sawant, Arvind Sawant, Kiran Pavaskar, Parshuram Uparkar and Ajit Gogate.

Chief Minister added that children of mill workers from Konkan will be given training in ITI and also special training so that they could get job in malls.

The delegation also demanded a special package for Konkan farmers, new schemes for small fishermen, affordable housing colonies at Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane for Konkan residents, exemption from load shedding for Sindhudurg and declaring the district as eco-sensitive, an official release said here today.
