Congress demands CBI inquiry into Churches attack

Mangalore, Sept 16 (UNI) Severely condemning the planned attack on various Churches in three districts in the state KPCCI-President Mallikarjun Kharge today demanded for a CBI inquiry into the incidents to track-down the culprits.

Speaking to newspersons after visiting the violence-hit port city Mangalore here today Congress leader expressed anguish and said that properties of several Churches and prayer halls have been damaged by the vandal attack and minority Christian were living under constant fear.

Charging that the state police who were supposed to protect the life and properties of the people have remained mute spectators when Churches became target for attack. Seeking an investigation into the inaction of the police Mr Kharge accused that innocent persons were beaten during the protest against attack on minorities.

Accusing that the activists of Sangh Pariwar are directly responsible for the attack on Churches and minorities Mr Kharge have also demanded an immediate ban on these organisations. "Home minister Dr V S Acharya should resign from his post owning moral responsibility for not protecting the interests of the minorities" he said.

He also appealed the people not to get provoked by the conspirators and maintain peace in the district.
