CBI seeks six months more to complete Lavalin probe
Kochi, Sep 16 (UNI) The CBI today sought six more months time from Kerala High Court to complete the investigation into the SNC Lavalin case and file the final report.
The agency filed an application, stating that it was making earnest efforts to bring the culprits to book. The case pertains to alleged loss of more than Rs 300 crore incurred by Kerala State Electricity Board(KSEB) in awarding the contract for revamping three power plants in the state, to a Canadian company SNC Lavalin during the previous LDF Government.
The CBI also filed a progress report on the investigation in a sealed cover to the Registrar General of the High Court.
The high court had on March 18 this year directed the CBI to complete the investigation within six months.
The time granted by the high court ends on September 18. The CBI application is likely to be considered by the court on that day.
