Britney set to prove herself with New Year Eve comeback gig

London, Sep 15 : After her hitting the low side of her career, popstar Britney Spears is desperate to prove her talent with a New Year Eve comeback gig in Los Angeles.

The 'Hit Me Baby One More Time' hitmaker, who has seen it all with public meltdowns, divorce, rehab, drug problem and a bitter custody battle of her kids, is keen to evolve as a reigning popstar again.

Britney, who looked pretty delightful as she collected her awards at the VMA's, is said to be in talks with L.A. Palms owner and pal George Maloof for her New Year gig.

"Britney has been recording her sixth album at Palms and she is good friends with George from way back. They are cooking up the idea of making a big bold statement by making her comeback on New Year's Eve. It's going to be the hottest ticket on the planet," the Mirror quoted a source as saying.

The source said that Britney had revealed her intention of going onstage midnight, and asked Maloof to organize a cast of burlesque dancers and as many fireworks and special effects as he can afford.
