Sourav Ganguly comes to help flood affected people of Bihar
Siliguri, Sept 13 : Sourav Ganguly, former skipper of Indian cricket team has come out to help the people of flood affected Bihar.
The flamboyant southpaw known to be a run greedy batsman was seen collecting cheques for the people of Bihar, who have been forced to lead a life of refugees owing to ravaging floods.
He, along with popular Bollywood singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya, was taking part in a programme organised on Saturday in Siliguri to collect funds for flood victims.
Thanking the people who came forward to donate the needy, Ganguly said, "I hope your contributions will definitely come to help the flood affected people of Bihar. Thank you very much."
The programmes chipped in 14227 dollar.
The people who have witnessed the worst floods in living memory are now trying to cope up with the catastrophe that has taken a toll of over 90 lives and more than three million people have been displaced.
The floods in Bihar erupted after the Kosi river burst a dam in Nepal, swamping hundreds of villages and destroying 100,000 ha (250,000 acres) of farmlands downstream.
