NPF appeals for ceasefire among underground groups
Kohima, Sep 13 (UNI) The Nagaland Peoples' Front (NPF), the major coalition partner of the ruling Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN), has appealed to all underground groups to arrive at ceasefire agreements among themselves and adhere to the Cease Fire Ground Rules (CFGR) to stop fratricidal killings.
Adopting resolutions during the Central Executive Committee meeting here, which ended yesterday, the party decided to continue to support the untiring efforts made by the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of the DAN and take note of the progress being made steadily towards resolving the protracted Naga political issue.
The meeting also resolved to extend unflinching support to the Naga Reconciliation Forum, civil societies, NGOs and individuals whose efforts were directed towards fraternity and the Naga peace process.
The NPF also alleged that atrocities continued to be perpetrated against thousands of Christians, minorities and their auxiliaries in Orissa, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka which could dismantle the Constitution's secular character, the fall out of which may have far reaching effects even in the geo-political structure of the country.
The party condemned the alleged atrocities on Christians and urged the Centre to immediately pull up the concerned state governments to impose all appropriate measures to check the situation.
