Competitions on Periyar's birth anniversary

Tiruchirapalli, Sep 13 (UNI) The Department of Tamil Development is organising oratorical, essay writing and poetry competitions for college students of the district here on September 17 to commemorate the birth anniversary celebrations of Rationalist Leader Periyar E V R, District Collector T Soundiah said.

In a press release here today, he said winners of the competitions would be given a cash prize of Rs 1000 each and would also qualify for the State-level competitions to be held at Chennai.

Students of all engineering, arts and science colleges can participate in the contests, he said.
