Srinagar, Sep 12 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has directed the authorities to pay compensation of Rs one lakh besides providing employment to wife of a Kashmiri driver, killed in Jammu during the recent Amarnath land row.
The commission also directed the state police to register a case against those involved in the killing of 30 year-year-old Mohammad Lateef at Samba in the Jammu region.
Lateef was attacked on August 5 near Lakhanpur by rioters and wounded critically. He was later shifted to the All India Institute of Medical Science, New Delhi, where he died on August 17, evoking massive protests in the valley.
The commission, after examining the deatils about the case, said it was a gross violation of the human rights.
