KPCC threatens to stir on Govt notice against Christian institution

Bangalore, Sep 12 (UNI) Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President Mallikarjun Kharge today threatened to launch an agitation if the state government does not withdraw the showcause notice issued against Christian schools and colleges on their closure recently to take part in the nation-wide protest against the Orissa incident.

Mr Kharge told reporters here that the party would hold the BJP government, headed by B S Yeddyurappa, responsible for any law and order problems arising out of this issue.

The Christian institutions had closed their institutions on August 29 to take part in the protest against Christians in Kandhamal district in Orissa.

Karnataka Primary and Secondary Education Minister Visveswar Kageri Hegde had issued the showcause notices to the Christian schools and colleges in connection with the closure without prior permission of the state government.

Referring to a three-day BJP national executive meeting in the city, he alleged that it was being hosted at the cost of the state government's money.
