Dawood's brother-in-law's interim relief plea rejected

Mumbai, Sep 12 (UNI) The Sewri Sessions Court today refused to grant interim relief to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's brother-in-law, Zanzeb Khan alias Guddu Pathan, who had moved the court fearing his arrest for his involvement in assault on a police informer at Shivaji Park in central Mumbai.

Sessions Judge A Wahule, who was hearing the anticipatory bail plea, refused to grant interim relief to Pathan and then adjourned the hearing till September 18. He directed Guddu Pathan to remain present in the court on the next hearing.

According to the prosecution, on August 4 four assailants, allegedly including Pathan, stabbed the police informer Patel and his friend Machchiwala with knives in their back and stomach while they were passing from Senapati Bapat Marg.

Patel sustained injuries, while Machchhiwala is currently fighting for life in King Edward Memorial Hospital.

Pathan and his associates allegedly attacked Patel because they believed that he had informed police about their activities, the prosecution further said.

Patel had played a vital role in solving a corruption case involving crime branch officers, Dawood's sister Haseena Parker and two builders.
