Jayalalitha opposes US nuke deal

Chennai/Bangalore, September 11, 2008 : The chief of the AIADMK and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Jayaram Jayalalitha, has charged the Central Government with compromising the country's sovereign right to conduct further atomic tests by going ahead with the US-India civil nuclear cooperation deal.

Meanwhile, eminent space scientist U.R. Rao has described the deal as good for India despite the fact that further atomic tests could invite the ire of the rest of the world.
