Pondy: Subramaniya Bharathi remembered

Puducherry, Sep 11: Rich tributes were paid to revolutionary poet and freedom fighter Subramaniya Bharathi on his 87th death anniversary here today.

Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Planning V Narayansami and Puducherry Chief Minister V Vaithilingam, among others, garlanded the statue of the poet at the Bharathi Park here.

Tributes were also paid to the poet at the Bharathi Memorial house and at Ariyankuppam, where students of 'Bharathiyar Palkalaikoodam' (University) sang his songs to mark the occasion.
