Sonic the Hedgehog voted 'UK's Best Loved Character'

London, Sept 11 : Sonic the Hedgehog is Britain's best-loved computer game character, according to a new online poll.

The supersonic blue hedgehog outshone Super Mario in the poll conducted by Internetcashback.co.uk.

To reach the conclusion, 1,000 gamers were quizzed.

Sonic also beat popular characters Donkey Kong, Pac Man and Guinness World Record's "most successful human video game heroine," Lara Croft.

"The results were extremely close between Sonic and Mario," The Daily Star quoted manager of the gaming website, Andrea Gregson, as saying.
