Centre constitutes task force to improve science education
Puducherry, Sep 11 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development Purendeswari today said the Centre had constituted a task force, under the Chairmanship of Prof M M Sharma to go into the decline in science education and decided to build scientific research institutions of highest standards in the country.
Inagurating the three-day South-Zone Vice-Chancellors Conference at the Pondicherry Central University here, Ms Purendeswari said the HRD Ministry has set up the Indian Institute of Scientific Education and Research (IISERs) centre in Kolkota, Pune and Mohali (Punjab).
Expressing concern over the lack of quality teaching faculty, she said this was because of the declining interest in research activites.
Prof Ananthakrishnan, Prof D Don Gaorkar, Secretary General, AIU, Prof Tareen, Vice-Chancellor, Pondicherry University were among others who participated in the three-day conference.
