Students demonstrate near Indo-Bangla border against infiltration
Silchar, Sep 10 (UNI) Nearly 100 members of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) today demonstrated near Indo-Bangla border in Assam's Karimganj sector against alleged unabated infiltration from the neighbouring country.
The students belonging to different schools and collages of the border district, gathered at the bank of Kushiara river that separates the two countries in this part of Assam, and staged demonstration against Bangladesh authorities for allegedly engineering infiltration from that country into India.
The members of the saffron students' body during the three-hour-long demonstration used loudspeaker targeting at Bangladesh on the other side of the river Kushiara and asked the Dhaka authorities to stop infiltration immediately for the sake of good relation with India.
ABVP North-East zone president Mrinal Kanti Das, while addressing demonstrators near the international border, said, unabated infiltration from other side of the international border into Assam and other North-eastern states over the years has threatened the demographic balance of the region. The large-scale infiltration is also set to threaten the integrity and sovereignty of India.
'' We demand that Bangladesh acts firmly against the menace. We also want that Indian authorities urgently take on the serious problem of infiltration'', he said.
