Public holiday on Sep 12 for Onam

Puducherry,Sep 10(UNI) Puducherry Lt Governor Govind Singh Gurjar today declared Friday September 12 as a public holiday for the Union territory on account of "Onam" the harvest festival of Kerala, instead of the restricted holiday, already announced.

According to an official release here, today, Co-operative banks would remain closed on Friday,even though it was not a holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act.

September 27 would be a working day to compensate the Onam holiday on Friday, the release added.
