Gilani meets Zardari; will accept resignations of PML(N) ministers
Islamabad, Sep 10 (UNI) Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani held a meeting here today and decided to accept resignations of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) ministers.
The PML(N) had quit the coalition government last month over differences with the Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) on restoration of judges deposed by former President Pervez Musharraf.
Mr Gilani briefed the President on key issues faced by the government. This was Mr Gilani's first meeting with Mr Zardari since he took over as the President yesterday.
It was decided in the meeting that resignations of PML-N members of federal cabinet would be accepted soon, an official said.
An expansion and reshuffling of the federal cabinet is on the cards for sometime this week. ''The formal announcement (of the expansion) would be made within the next few days,'' said the official sources.
The President told Mr Gilani, ''Immediate measures should be taken to provide relief to the people.'' He added he believed in the supremacy of Parliament and offered his full support to stabilise the government.
