ONGC denies reports of shifting regional head office

Guwahati, Sept 9 (UNI) The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) today denied media reports of the oil giant's plans for shifting its regional head office from Nazira in upper Assam to Kolkata.

A release issued from the Nazira regional head office stated that the ONGC had no such plans and vehemently denied the reports, branding them as 'wrong, baseless and motivated.' On the contrary, it has lined up major investment projects both for enhancement of exploration and production of oil and gas from Assam oil fields as well as for modernization of the surface infrastructure, the release said.

The ONGC Assam Asset has recruited local youths to men its increased operational requirements here and also entered into a MoU with the state government to raise a dedicated security battalion.

The Corporation reiterated its commitment to the development of the state as it had been for the past five decades.
