Shimla, Sep 9 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal called upon all the educational institutions of the state to start Scouts and Guides activities in their institutions to boost extra curricular activities amongst the students.
"NCC, Scouts and Guides are instrumental in overall personality development of the children which needed to be incorporated alongside the academic activities," said Mr Dhumal, who is the president of the Bharat Scouts and Guides Association, Himachal Pradesh in its State Council Meeting held here today under his chirmanship.
He said the government would give priority for elaboration of the Scouts and Guides activities to every educational institution in the state.
The state government would be chalking out modalities to set up the state headquarter of the Bharat Scouts and Guides proposed at village Plasi in district Hamirpur and provide required land for the development of the state level training centre.
He said that all out efforts would be made to transfer the unutilised accommodation of the Education Department at Barthin in Bilaspur district for the development as district level training centre. He said that required action would also be taken to set up similar training centre for district Mandi at Rewalsar where the Association had already been allotted land.
