Chennai-Arakkonam EMU services hit as high-tension wire snaps
Chennai, Sep 9 (UNI) Suburban EMU Train services between Chennai Central and Arakkonam were affected for nearly three hours after an overhead high tension wire snapped and fell on the track near Basin Bridge station today.
Railway sources said through services between Chennai and Arakkonam were affected on both the lines.
The arrival and departure of long-distance trains to and from Chennai Central were also delayed following the incident, leading to rescheduling of a couple of trains.
Railway officials rushed to the spot and set right the problem, which led to detention of EMU trains at Basin Bridge Station, putting scores of commuters, including school and college students and office goers, to great hardship.
Several stranded passengers were forced to walk upto Chennai Central from Basin bridge.
