Release salaries and COLA to SRTC, CPI(M) to government

Srinagar, Sep 7 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (M) has demanded immediate release of five month salary and pedding state of COLA to State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) employees in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement here today the State Secretary of CPI(M) Mohammad Yousuf Targami demanded implementation of the agreement reached between the government and SRTC employees in March in which it was agreed that salaries of the employees would be paid regularly.

However, he said, it was unfortunate that no salary has been paid to employees since April this year.

He said the employees were again forced to resort to strike and protests in the state.

Mr Targami also demanded withdrawal of cases against leaders of employees.

The SRTC has halted their operation for the past three weeks, affecting schools and inter-state and inter-district services.
