White House wants new Pak President to fight terror
Washington, Sept 6 : As PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardrai is all set to win today's Pakistan presidential poll, the White House has said that it expected the winner to cooperate in the fight against terrorism.
A White House spokesman said that Washington would continue to work with the next Pakistan President and would also like to have his co-operation in its ongoing global war-on-terror.
"We'll continue to work with them, we need to have their cooperation," The News quoted spokeswoman Dana Perino as saying when asked about bilateral relations should front-runner Asif Ali Zardari win the presidential vote.
Speaking to reporters in Washinhgton last evening, Perino said: "One of the reasons that Zardari will become the president is because unfortunately his wife was killed by terrorists, so they have a mutual interest in trying to go after terrorists."
