Son-in-law burnt for dowry

Shivpuri, MP, Sep 6 (UNI) In a strange case, a case of setting a son-in-law on fire for dowry has come to light in this district, police said today.

Kolaras-resident Meharban Jatav (23), who was married to a girl from Lukwasa village four years back, has sustained serious burn injuries in the incident.

He was admitted to the district hospital, where he gave his statement to police yesterday.

Soon after marriage, family members of bride kept making demands for some materials or cash from Meharban, who kept on fulfilling them.

Meharban went to his in-laws to bring his wife home on September 4 when his father-in-law Bharosa demanded Rs 2,000. When he refused, Bharosa along with his about six friends doused kerosene on him and set him on fire.

The accused are absconding.
