Procession against 'attack' on missionaries in Orissa
Kolar, Karnataka, Sep 6 (UNI) Hundreds of teaching and non-teaching staff of Christian educational institutions here today took out a procession to protest the alleged atrocities on Christian Missionaries in Orissa.
The agitators led by Samatha Sainik Dal State unit Chief M Venkataswamy and Christian Teachers' Association President E Suresh Babu also sought the withdrawal of notices served on the Mission schools by the Karnataka government for observing 'bandh' in the state to protest the Orissa violence.
Addressing the agitators, Mr Venkataswamy criticised the high-handedness of fundamental elements over Christian Missionaries and urged the Orissa government to take steps to nab those responsible for the attack on missionaries.
The agitators later submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner H R Srinivas listing out their demands.
