NGO organises eye check-up camp for animals, birds

Rajkot, Sep 6 (UNI) An eye check-up camp for animals and birds was organised by city-based NGO Karuna Foundation here today.

A team of experts from Anand Veterinary college and local veterinary Doctors today examined 35 animals and birds, free of cost.

Minor eye-related problems of the animals were being treated in the camp itself, Veterinary Doctor D G Maradia said.

During the camp, an 84-year-old elephant from Morbi was diagnosed with loss of vision in the right eye, as it had injury in the eye and the left eye has developed ulcer, Dr Maradia said and added that the ulcer will be cured by the treatment.

Tremendous response have been received from Junagadh, Jamnagar, Jetpur, Kutch and Gandhinagar, Vice president of the Karuna Foundation, Mr Mital Khetani said.

Motive behind organising the camp was to create awareness among the people, who have animals and birds, Mr Mital said.
