11 killed as jeep falls into Narmada river

Khargone(MP), Sep 6: At least 11 people were killed and seven others missing as a jeep carrying them fell into the Narmada river after breaking railings of the bridge near Badwaha in this district in western Madhya Pradesh early this morning.

Eight bodies had been retrieved from the jeep and identified while three other bodies were recovered three Km downstream of the bridge, police said.

All victims hailing from Bamanpuri village were returning home after attending a religious programme at Anjarud village on the other side of the river in Mandhata police station limits of Khandwa district.

Divers have been engaged in search of the missing people, who were suspected to have drowned, as the jeep was found submerged by villagers taking bath in the river.
