Ganesh idol immersion in Madurai

Madurai, Sep 5 (UNI) Amid unprecedented security, Ganesh idols were immersed in River Vaigai here this evening.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President L Ganesan flagged off the procession at Keezha Masi Street which went around important thoroughfares and finally the idols were immersed in Vaigai River amid religious fervour at Simmakkal Kalpalam Area.

According to reports reaching here, the Ganesh idol immersion procession was peacefully going on in Dindigul District, which witnessed disorderly scenes yesterday.

A large number of policemen were deployed along the procession route to prevent any untoward incidents.
