Fake Certificate racket rampant in Kodagu district

Madikeri, Sep 5 (UNI) The Kodagu district was witnessing rampant use of fake caste certificates from peple who get elected to panchayat raj organisations, a retired official today alleged.

According to former Assistant Director of land records K J Dundappa has said that fake caste certificates are produced rampantly at Taluk office, Somwarpet.

He alleged that fake certificates of SC and ST were created by unscrupulous revenue officials, which were eventually produced proof to prove one's claim in local and panchayat bodies. A member who won with a caste certificate Kudige village recently has lost his post after the court proved that he contested from fake caste certificate, he said.

He also revealed that two candidates had become Presidents of the Somwarpet Town panchayath by producing fake certificates. He cautioned that the revenue officials should put a full stop to the practice.

He warned that he will approach court of law to bring such officials to books, if the fake certificates issued so far was not recalled.
