Exhibition to create awareness about nutrition from Sep 5-7

New Delhi, Sep 4 (UNI) The Ministry of Women and Child Development will organise a three-day exhibition on nutrition from tomorrow to mark the National Nutrition Week.

Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterji would inaugurate the exhibition, to be held from September 5 to 7, in the presence of Minister of State for Women and Child Development Renuka Chowdhury.

The theme for this year's exhibition, is 'Invest in Child Nutrition'. During the exhibition, important activities like instant health check-up, assessment of BMI of the visiting women and adolescent girls would be organised. Live demonstrations of low cost nutritious recipes, nutrition quiz, nutrition games, among others, would also be arranged to make the programme useful and informative for the people at large.

A cultural and folk programme with important messages on nutrition would be performed by the Song and Drama division of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry during these days for generating and increasing awareness on nutrition.

The 43 Community Food and Nutrition Extension Units of the Food and Nutrition Board, located in 29 States/UTs, would also organise special programmes during the Nutrition Week in their areas of operation. State-level workshops on nutrition would also be organised in the respective state capitals.
