PPP to stage show of strength on the eve of Sept 6 Prez poll

Lahore, Sept 3 : On the eve of the September 6 Presidential poll in Pakistan, the PPP, which has fielded its Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari as the front-runner candidate, has decided to stage a show of strength in Islamabad and all four provincial capitals on Friday.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani at the Governor's House in Lahore, said party sources.

The PPP would stage the show of strength at Iftar parties to be organised by the party's central and provincial leaders in the federal and provincial capitals on September 5, reported the Daily Times.

The prime minister has directed the PPP leaders to bring a maximum number of MPAs and MNAs to the Iftar dinners. He also asked the party leaders who are presently abroad, to return before September 5.
