Speaker raps Bhajan Lal for not appearing before panel
Chandigarh, Sep 1 (UNI) Haryana Assembly Speaker Raghuvir Singh Kadian today took strong exception to the non-appearance of former Haryana MLA Bhajan Lal before a House committee probing into the circumstances that led to the signing of the 1994 Yamuna Accord.
He said Mr Bhajan Lal failed to appear before the committee despite the fact that he was sent ten notices-six when he was a Congress MLA and four after he was disqualified under the anti-defection law.
''The non-cooperative attitude of Mr Bhajan Lal was not acceptable,'' said the Speaker who headed the committee on the 1994 Yamuna accord which was signed when Mr Bhajan Lal was Haryana Chief Minister. The committee was constituted amid disclosures that due to the agreement, the state's share in the Yamuna waters was reduced.
The report of the committee would be presented in the next session of the assembly, the Speaker said.
