Industrialist Dattaraj Salgaokar awarded for Konkani promotion

Panaji, Aug 31 (UNI) Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat presented the coveted 'Kullagar' award to noted industrialist Dattaraj Salgaokar for his rich contribution to enrichment of Konkani language.

Incidentally, Mr Salgaokar started the Daily Sunaparant, the only Konkani newspaper published from Goa. The award carries Rs 5,000, a scroll and a memento.

The CM also released eight Konkani books, published under the Sahitya Vividha scheme, initiated by the Kallagar Prakashan, after he gave away the award at a function held in Margao city yesterday.
