Zardari, favourite candidate of Pak bookies

Lahore, Aug 28: Bookies in Pakistan are putting their bet on PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari as the country's next president. They declared him as the people's 'favourite' candidate for the highest post of the country.

Bookies claimed that numerous police officers had also placed bets with them on Zardari's name for the post of President. A bookie, requesting anonymity, reportedly said that many people were placing their money on Zardari, as they believed that he would win the presidential elections, reported the Daily Times. He said that people were supporting Zardari as he headed the ruling PPP, which had the highest number of members in the National Assembly.

He also said that political conditions also favoured Zardari's candidature.
