Youth activists assaulted in Mangalore

Mangalore, Aug 28 (UNI) Heavy security arrangements have been made in the tension-prone areas in some pockets of the city following reports of an incident of assault on two youths by some unidentified persons here last night.

According to police sources, some miscreants riding two vehicles including a rickshaw, attacked two youths with lethal weapons and fled the scene after the duo raised an alarm.

The injured, identified as Bhaskar and Anil, were admitted to a private hospital, where they were recovering.

Both were activists of 'Bhajarangdal' in Daxina Kannada district and had been attacked by the miscreants on an earlier ocassion.

Shops and other business establishments remained closed fearing violence in the backdrop of the attack on the two activists.

Elaborate security arrangements were made to defuse the 'tense' situation.

A special investigation team was formed to apprehend the accused, the sources added.
