Speeding truck runs over four in Patna

Patna, Aug 28 (UNI) At least four people were crushed to death and another was seriously injured by a speeding truck near R-Block Chauraha under Sachiwalay police station here.

Senior Police Superintendent Amit Kumar told UNI here today that the truck ran over the victims while they were asleep on the footpath near R-Block Chauraha late last night.

The injured person was admitted to the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH).

The accident took place due to the negligence of the driver, the SP said, adding that the driver and cleaner of the truck were arrested.

The victims were rickshaw-pullers and daily wage earners.

The administration announced Rs 10,000 as compensation to the next of kin of the deceased.
