Sify opens high tech data centre

Mumbai, Aug 28 (UNI) Leading Indian managed services provider Sify today launched its fourth state-of-the-art Data Centre, built at a cost of Rs 150 crore, covering a floor area of 100,000 sq ft.

The new generation Data Centre, the first of its kind in the world is located at Airoli near here. Sify is already operating Data Centres in Bangalore, Chennai and another one in Mumbai. It had taken up construction of two other centres in Noida and Bangalore, each would having a floor space of 125,000 sq ft each with an investment of Rs 400 crore. The two centres would be operational in about two years time and provide services to both domestic and overseas markets.

Briefing newsmen about the New Centre, Sify Enterprise Services Executive President P H Nath said the Airoli centre was a key facet of the company strategy to develop the most sophisticated network and data centre infrastructure in the country to facilitate the evolution and demand for services such as e-commerce, online banking, corporate ERP and other applications, media and entertainment content besides a host of other managed services.

He said Sify had emerged a leader in mission critical services across various verticals including Banking, Financial Services and Insurance, manufacturing, services, media and retail.

Sify had a network to over 500 points of presence and had been investing for growth of its backbone infrastructure and adoption of new technologies, he said. Operating in the Data Centre business for over eight years, Sify had built a strong experience and was managing over 250 clients with over 99.99 per cent uptime at all its three centres.

About the Airoli centre he said it had been built as per the latest industry norms with the utility area and supporting rooms accounting for more than 100 per cent server farm area to ensure better operational and security controls. With a ten MW power, the facility provided very high power with the density being 250 watts per sq ft.
